Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Rescue Foodies

What is Rescue Foodies?

Rescue Foodies is a food rescue app in the Philippines that connects you with local bakeries, cafés, and restaurants selling their surplus food at up to 60% off. Instead of letting good food go to waste, partner shops offer 'Surprise Bags' — mystery bundles of the day's unsold items at a steep discount.

What is a Surprise Bag?

A Surprise Bag is a bundle of surplus food sold at a discounted price. The exact contents are a surprise — you won't know what's inside until you pick it up. But you're guaranteed fresh, quality food worth ₱600-1,000 for just ₱300-500.

Is surplus food safe to eat?

Yes. Surplus food is not expired or spoiled — it's simply food that didn't sell during the day. All items in a Surprise Bag are fresh and meet the same quality standards as regular menu items.

How does Rescue Foodies work?

It's simple: 1) Browse — Open the app and see Surprise Bags available near you. 2) Reserve — Tap to claim your bag. 3) Pick Up — Visit the shop during the pickup window and collect your bag.

Where is Rescue Foodies available?

Rescue Foodies is currently available in Metro Manila, Philippines. We're expanding to more areas soon — check the app for the latest coverage.

What time can I pick up my Surprise Bag?

Each shop sets their own pickup window, usually in the late afternoon or evening (e.g., 5-7 PM). The exact window is shown when you reserve your bag.

Can I choose what's in my Surprise Bag?

No — that's what makes it a surprise! Shops don't know exactly what will be left unsold each day, so the contents vary. If you have allergies, check the shop description for typical items before reserving.

How much money can I save?

Surprise Bags are priced at 40-60% off the retail value. A typical bag contains ₱600-1,000 worth of food for just ₱300-500 — that's savings of ₱300-500+ per bag.

How can my business join Rescue Foodies?

Apply through our partner form at rescuefoodies.com/for-businesses. We'll review your application and respond within 48 hours. Once approved, you can start listing Surprise Bags right away.

How much food is wasted in the Philippines?

The Philippines wastes approximately 1,700 metric tons of food every day — mostly from restaurants, hotels, and food retail. Much of this is perfectly good food that simply didn't sell in time.
